Without further ado we announce our new website.

Our new website www.crankypressman.com is now up and clicking away. Oddly enough it will be replacing our old site and this blog as well. We will hang on to this space for now but you won't find much action here (like you ever did). Our new location will be much more lively. Stop by, befriend Cranky and let us know what you think.

Cordially yours,
Cranky Pressman

Not long for this world wide web.

Our old website will cease to exist on or about the end of September, 2009. However, reminiscent of the oft purported death of print itself, www.CrankyPressman.com too will live on in a new version 2.0. The updated incarnation will be a source for letterpress information, printing services and blog, along with other gaudy online gimmickry today’s young designers expect. It is in fact a sad and flagrant jump aboard the bandwagon by a couple of old printers. The www will be the same later this month, but we will not.

Absent-minded old fool.

My apologies for not updating sooner. Completely forgot we had this journal to keep. Been focusing on keeping the presses running and are working on a new website and blog to replace these old dust collectors. More details to come as soon as I remember where I put my keys.

Had a dandy little mention in FPO recently. Featured was a spiffy project Cranky Pressman letterpress printed and die cut for the folks at Product Superior. Every business card should be as attractive as this.

AIGA New Mexico Showdown

The First Annual AIGA New Mexico Showdown takes place tomorrow, January 24, 2009. The exhibition and party will display all winning entries and announce the Best of Show and Judge's Choice Awards. A party will follow with entertainment, dancing and a cash bar. More information can be found at santafe.aiga.org.

Cranky Pressman is pleased to have helped out the organization by letterpress printing the invitation cards. We will be at home in Ohio with our hot chocolate watching the History Channel but hope everyone has a hoot at the event.

The front of the card was letterpress printed on Graphic Coverboard, PMS Red 185 and PMS Blue 3145. A transparent white ink was printed with a heavy 'bite' impression to create the wood grain effect. Drilling was used to make bullet holes. The back was letterpress printed in PMS Blue 3145.

Design by Brian Hurshman of Sparkplug Studio.

Things I will not get done in 2009.

FREE LETTERPRESS CALENDAR. Scary and ugly looking just like the upcoming year. The Cranky Pressman 2009 Calendar is a fitting tribute to what likely will prove to be a very crappy year. Artwork by Mikey Burtton. We still have a few calendars left. If you would like one email me a postal address and we will drop one in the mail to you. Sorry but quantities are limited.

2008 was a very good year for Cranky Pressman. Thanks to all our customers new and old.

It was not however a bumper year for loggin' the blogs. I just counted and see there were 14 posts in 2009. This is actually a lot more than I figured but a pitiful effort none the less.

So I am not going to announce in appropriate New Year fashion that we will be improving our blog productivity for 2009 because it probably just wouldn't happen. I will however come up with a feeble excuse for our poor showing last year. Aside from actual letterpress printing projects we've been busy working on a new website which will be launched soon to replace the current site and this humble webblog. So if you can bring yourself to check back here again soon knowing fully well that digital punctuality is not our strong suit you may just be surprised and find we have announced the details of the new site.

The new CrankyPressman.com will be quite different from what we are currently doing online as will the blog. We think you will like our new direction.
